Another thing for someone to consider before entering the hospitality industry is that the work hours can vary from week to week. For example, hotels are open 24 hours a day. This means that a manager or employee may work early in the morning or late into the night. Also, he or she may work on weekends. A person working in the hospitality industry has the potential to earn a large salary. An individual can accomplish this by establishing a solid reputation for first-rate customer service. For example, it may not be part of the job description of a hotel manager to arrange for a rental car for a guest, but he or she may do so anyway if the person is a regular at the hotel. The guest will likely share this positive experience with friends and co-workers who may decide to stay at the hotel as a result. Guests in restaurants, hotels and spas often give managers and employees tips if they receive excellent customer service. Also, a manager or employee working in this industry can get a promotion if he or she has a great reputation for serving customers. Employees in this industry have the ability to earn more as they take on more responsibilities.
