For most business owners trying to describe their business is difficult. Their focus is so much on the details of what they are doing that they often have trouble conveying in simple terms to an outsider what they do and more importantly, why they do it.

Why do you need a quickie pitch?

The reality is that if you don't know what you do as a business and why you are doing it, you are likely to be going in the wrong direction. I once worked in a company where it took me 8 months to learn what it is the company did. This was because the business didn't know until I finally managed to sit the directors down and force them to figure it out.

You also need a quickie pitch every time you interact with someone new. This can be new customers, business partners, investors or employees.

You need it for yourself, like checking on a map to make sure you are going in the right direction.

If you can't fill in the blanks it means that it is difficult for you to communicate what your business does both to yourself and to others. So fill in the blanks and find more customers and more focus in your business.
